Stephen King’s The Body: Character Analysis Paper.
Gordie’s innocence is effectively brought to attention by how The Writer describes the events transpiring on screen. Because the Writer’s style of narration is omniscient, it provides many opportunities for suspense and deeper meaning in each scene.
In the novella The Body, author Stephen King makes an attempt to describe a story about losing innocence, just to be replaced by maturity and the corruption that includes it. To do so, King revolves a story around a group of four kids who go on a life changing journey to discover a dead body they became aware of through the grape vine.
In the small town of Oregon named Castle Rock, housed 4 boys who go on an adventure to find out a lost physique. Three days ahead of Labor Day of 1959 Gordie Lachance, Vern Tesso, Chris Chambers, and Teddy Duchamp determine to reap the glory in which bringing the missing physique of a kid, Ray Brower, back to the town would lead to.
When comparing to the characters of Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, with this definition, it becomes clear that the loss of innocence is a central theme of the novel and is pivotal to character development. Some of the key characters who have lost their innocence are Jem and Scout Finch, Arthur Radley and Mayella Ewell.
Gordie Lachance is the smartest, but most sensitive boy of the group, who spends most of his time in with these other boys. He is the character who recalls the events as a now 27 year old successful writer and father. Gordie lives his younger years full of denial and much uncertainty.
In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Lee uses anthropomorphism, tone, and character development to convey that understanding the reality of situations can result in a loss of innocence, establishing the abundant innocence which was and is found in today 's society.
